September Happiness - Happy Divorce
Thursday Sep 10, 2020
Thursday Sep 10, 2020
My September Happiness Quest continues and I'm finding many reasons to be thankful and happy. Even though I loath going to the brace repair shop, I got through it today. And enjoyed a book, a French film, and more...
The film was about divorce and even though going through my divorce was miserable. I'm happy I did it.
How does this all tie together? You gotta listen to this episode to find out. Please share and please subscribe.

Physical Therapy for People with Limb Difference or Loss - One-On-One
Tuesday Sep 01, 2020
Tuesday Sep 01, 2020
2.1 million people in the United States are living with Limb Loss. Each year 1 million people in the world undergo an amputation. That's one every thirty seconds somewhere in the world. For the first time, the Physical Therapy Department at Sacramento State is opening up its popular amputee clinic to the world. Because of COVID, the popular clinic is going virtual, professors and students will be using Telehealth to communicate with patients. One-On-One communication in the digital age includes health care clinics and doctor's visits online and on the computer screen!
Professor Toran MacLeod is one of the brilliant faculty members I worked with at Sacramento State. It was a pleasure to sit down and talk with him on Zoom about his upcoming clinic, his students, his digital projects, and the importance of Communication and kindness. Especially now, but always.

My COVID19 Scare! - Just a Painful Sinus Infection (Time to Share Symptoms Again!)
Wednesday Aug 26, 2020
Wednesday Aug 26, 2020
I recently had a COVID19 Scare! But it was just a painful sinus infection. My head ached, my muscles were sore, I felt fatigued. I was having trouble swallowing and breathing. These symptoms are similar to COVID19 symptoms. I immediately turned to the internet and the CDC. The Centers for Disease Control's website is excellent. It helped me and my doctors determine that I did not have COVID, I had a nasty sinus infection. Two reasons I am sharing this story. Knowledge is power, better to hear about the symptoms again and again to avoid trouble. And Communication Skills helped me get through this scare. I was able to communicate fullying with doctors and nurses, and I got the help I needed. One-On-One during a video doctor's visit! When the US first began reporting cases of COVID19, I searched everywhere for information on symptoms. They were difficult to find. Now we just need to log on to the CDC', Centers for Disease Control's website. The link is below. And I have more information on my website, https://gloriamoraga.com/. Here is the shortlist of symptoms: Fever or chills Cough Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing Fatigue Muscle or body aches Headache New loss of taste or smell Sore throat Congestion or runny nose Nausea or vomiting Diarrhea CDC- U.S. Centers for Disease Control https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html

The Compliment - Always Say Thank You!
Saturday Aug 22, 2020
Saturday Aug 22, 2020
How do you handle praise? I rarely dealt with professional approval in the right way. I mismanaged many personal and professional compliments. Please do not do what I did for so many years. When someone says something kind to you, respond in a friendly, positive way. If you are at a loss for words, say two, "Thank you!"
I am dedicating this episode, "The Compliment," to John Wallace. A former anchorman and a friend. John gave me one of my first compliments for my reporting, and of course, I botched my response. I appreciate him so much for helping me feel more confident. He passed away not long ago and I still think of him often.

We Are Still NOT Talking to Each Other - One-On-One
Monday Aug 10, 2020
Monday Aug 10, 2020
I had an epiphany on Sunday. Here it is: I'm more addicted to Video Games than ever before. That's saying a lot. I've always loved them. Even when it was just PONG. I love them. But I'm going COLD Turkey. I'm going to stop playing for a couple of weeks. Why? Because I'm not talking to family members. Not One-On-One. Not with my undivided attention. I'm not giving up Movies. But I'm not playing games for two weeks. This includes Cross Word Puzzles. As I write this, I'm breaking out in a cold sweat. I already miss them. But I need to get a reality check and live in the moment. And enjoy people more. I'm going to try it. Please join me. And talk to each other One-On-One!
