Living On The Streets - My Conversation with A Homeless Man
Friday Nov 26, 2021
Friday Nov 26, 2021
William Menn has been living on the streets of Elk Grove, California, for five years. He once had a business, but he will only say he didn't lose it because of COVID. He fell off his bike recently, and his arm is in a sling; he has a broken collar bone and two cracked ribs. He didn't whine or complain about it, and he didn't ask for money or food. But I offered. And delivered.
Our One-On-One happened because he was sleeping at a bus stop on Elk Grove Boulevard without shoes or socks.
Two days before Thanksgiving and I refused to drive by and forget it. The man needed socks, for God's sake.
When we talked, he wasn't on drugs or drunk; he seemed educated and very well-spoken. He has a sense of humor. At one point, he used this phrase, "They are as worthless at Tits on a Boar Hog." He apologized for the profanity and said it was an old Texas saying. I laughed because I learned that phrase from one of my mentors, Mike Purl, at Channel 30, in Fresno, California.
I am thankful for many things in my life right now. I am extremely thankful I have a home. Anytime you have a conversation with anyone, you discover you have more questions than answers if you listen closely. I do. So I most likely will have a follow-up podcast to this one. Happy Thanksgiving Weekend, Everybody!

Some Of The Things I am Thankful For - Part 2: Thankful for Water
Monday Nov 22, 2021
Monday Nov 22, 2021
I am thankful for many things; I am very thankful for Clean Water.
We use Water for so many things, we must have it, or we die. But we also use it to grow crops, wash clothes, make food; we even use it to make our favorite drinks, coffee, tea, diet coke.
Water is why there is life on earth. And even though it covers 70 percent of our planet. Only 3 percent of the world's Water is fresh, and two-thirds of that is frozen or unreachable. (source: WWF website, https://www.worldwildlife.org/)

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE -Happy Veterans Day
Thursday Nov 11, 2021
Thursday Nov 11, 2021
World War I officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919. BUT! The FIGHTING ended seven months before that date when the Allies and Germany agreed to an Armistice. The Armistice happened on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. HaHA! For that reason, Nov. 11, 1918, was always considered the end of the "BIG WAR." The "War to End All Wars!" WWI.
That is why we celebrate Veterans Day (No Apostrophe) in November. It's to honor all those who served or are serving in the military. Please, take a moment on this National Holiday to thank a Veteran for their service.
Oh, BTW, What do these restaurants have in common, Wendy's, Olive Garden, Outback Steak House, IHOP, Dennys? They are offering free food for Veterans. Eat Heartily!!!

Illegal Drug Overdose Deaths Rise - How Addiction is Killing Us
The latest from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is that “more than 96,000 drug overdose deaths” were reported from March 2020 to March 2021.
This statistic means that Drug overdose deaths have increased nearly 30% compared to 2019.
Addiction Medicine Specialist Dr. Trent Hall of Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center calls it a “collision of health crises.”
It appears that there is a link between the COVID Pandemic and U.S. drug overdose deaths.
It’s an easy, simple reason. We like simple; we like easy. “Take a pill and call me in the morning” is a good remedy.
In this One-On-One, I speak with the author of “Weed, Inc. The Truth About THC, The Pot Lobby and Commercial Marijuana Industry.”

I will post additional information on this topic, and stay tuned; I’m purchasing a couple of copies of Ben Cort’s book and giving them away to listeners and YouTube viewers.

Health Care, Privacy and Abortion - Women‘s Rights in 2022

Health Care, Privacy and Abortion - Women's Rights in 2022 are in danger.
In the United States, a woman's right to medical care and a women's Constitutional Right to Privacy are being challenged. Abortion is not a topic most people want to discuss. But now is an excellent time to put your fears aside and talk with your mom or grandmother.
Ask them how medical and unwanted pregnancies were handled back when.
What O.G.'s have to say about this topic is INVALUABLE.
It's one of the most important One-On-One discussions we need to have as civil rights continue to be attacked. For a full transcript of this podcast episode, go to my website: https://gloriamoraga.com/

Talking With My Daughter - Explaining Why I Am Not A GREAT Grandma

Communicating with Grown Children - Communicating with Parents
Let's all agree. Unless you have a perfect relationship, asking for a favor from anybody is not easy.
Then there is this: A One-On-One with an adult child or a parent includes emotional baggage.
Personally, talking seriously with my daughter is never easy.
Explaining why I have no desire to be a GREAT, and I mean wonderful, grandma requires a long, long, long explanation.
Bottom Line: try to take some time to explain your emotional history. Why are you the way you are? It will make matters much easier in the long run.
