Racism, Riots and VOTING!
Monday Jun 01, 2020
Monday Jun 01, 2020
It's been a difficult year. It began with COVID. Then the highest unemployment rate in history. 20 Percent. Businesses and Jobs are lost forever. And at the end of the Month of May: Race Riots. Riots! Looting! Fires!
Another white cop killed a black man on May 25. It is horrific that I use the word "Another." Because this has happened before. And before and Before! We are sick of this. We wonder what we can do.
We feel bad because we are not black, we don't know what it's like and there is guilt that comes with that. We wonder what we can do.
We watch our leaders. At this point, anything they say seems like it's too little too late.
Our country burns.
Our president is clueless. There will be no "leadership moment" from him.
There is only one thing to do, pick ourselves up, try to get back to work, get through the long, hot summer, and vote Trump out in November. You know damn well his supporters will come out and vote for him again. We need to hold Congress and all elected officials accountable. Vote them out.
I complete this episode with two pieces of information, first a quote:
"I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent." -Mahatma Gandhi
And second, here is the link to the quote I used from Switch Code. I pulled it from the National Public Radio website. https://www.npr.org/2020/05/29/865261916/a-decade-of-watching-black-people-die

Three Stinkers - Movie Monday
Monday Jun 01, 2020
Monday Jun 01, 2020
Kinda grumpy this weekend. Maybe it's the horrible news that's got me down. The rioting, the COVID, the jobless rate are all sad and depressing. Or maybe it's just bad films. One of those films that I review is "Lucy in the Sky." It is loosely based on the real-life story of that "Staker-Female Astronaut."
Remember real-life astronaut Lisa Nowak's. She was the alleged stalker of fellow astronaut William Oefelein. I remembered the story because the press reports focused on the fact that she wore diapers so she could quickly drive across the US. She was following the boyfriend who had dumped her.
Sounds like a must-watch, movie right? No. It's boring and way too long. Or maybe, I'm just grumpy.

Every Office has it whether it is acknowledged or not. Office Politics can become a cancer that kills the team. And it costs U.S. companies billions each year. I purposely buried the lead.
There are steps that can be taken to destroy the Office Politics Beast.
Edward Jones had years of insights and information on how to deal with “Office Politics The Right Way.” Edward is an Executive Coach, and author and an inspirational speaker.

A War Hero and a Lesson for All of Us
Monday May 25, 2020
Monday May 25, 2020
Happy Memorial Day weekend One-On-One listeners. One of the films I am recommending this Movie Monday features a story about a war hero who served his country without hesitation but lived a personal life filled with regrets. The film is "The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot." It stars Sam Elliott and it is great. The film is filled with great One-On-One communication tips. I hope you have a chance to watch it. Let me know what you think. Please share and subscribe.

The Hardware Store - Just a few Words
Thursday May 21, 2020
Thursday May 21, 2020
Yes, I love shopping. More than ever, I long to go to the Mall. But I also have another store I love: The Hardware Store. To wander among the faucets, and lumber, the pool supplies and the paint. Yup. I'm a fix-er-upper. My last trip to the hardware store was different, yes, but the people there are the same. They are, in a word, Wonderful.

Movie Monday: Watch "Goldfinch"
Monday May 18, 2020
Monday May 18, 2020
I watched some great movies last week. My top pick is "Goldfinch," and a remix of Shakespeare's "Hamlet" is my other most enjoyed film, "Ophelia" stars Daisy Ridley.
Although I watched more than just five flicks, my other choices are "Paradise Hills," "Seberg," and the 1945 film "Sabrina."
So many choices, so much time. I hope you are able to watch some of my picks. And please comment. Download. And share.

Doctor Dreamboat : Reason for Living #25
Friday May 15, 2020
Friday May 15, 2020
Yes. My mother always told me to count my blessings. And yes, I try. But it isn't easy. Especially now. I miss so many things. Mainly, I miss people. And hugs. And adult conversation. But NO! This episode of One-On-One is not about that.
I just want to remind everybody to keep grabbing onto JOY where ever you can.
That said, I always try not to tell people to count their blessings. It sounds like I'm a Miss Goody-Goody.
Instead, I say, this is another Reason for Living. For example, "This diet coke is my reason for living" or "I had the best steak!" What a reason for living. It is my way of Counting my Blessings.
The other day, I found another reason to remain upbeat. Reason for Living #25: Doctor Dreamboat!

Let's Go To the Movies!
Tuesday May 12, 2020
Tuesday May 12, 2020
I read an article that outlines all the projects we can undertake now that we are spending more time at home. I made my list. I look at the list every day. But instead of doing my chores, I sit down on the sofa and watch a movie.
I love film. There is nothing else I would rather do. And to be honest, I've always wanted to spend more time catching up on all the movies I love. And watching all the ones I have not seen.
Still, I feel guilty, just watching and not working. So why not write a blog, a podcast, or produce a video. So, I'm here I am, talking about the movies I'm consuming.
I've created Movie Monday. I will post each Monday from now until I just run out of things to say. See you in 2025! I love the phrase, "Let's go to the movies." So I'm using that as well.
And I can hardly wait to say, "Let's go the Movies, Alex, Aiden, Gillian, Joey, Jarod, Brianna!"
