The Inflation Reduction Act may be a BIG political win for President Joe Biden and Democrats in the House and Senate, but it will also help us. 

It will lower health care costs for millions of Americans and create millions of "Clean Energy Jobs " yes! it will reduce the deficit. 

Don't listen to the right-wing pundits. The deficit will be lowered by 3.2 billion bucks over ten years. 

It earmarks money for electric cars, solar panels, and massive battery plants; it protects 2 million acres of National Forests. 

All this and more is part of the most significant Global Warming legislation ever created by the United States. 

Finally, the measure raises taxes for the largest corporations in America. These are businesses that paid $0 in Taxes in 2021. You will increase your taxes if you make $400,000.00 a year or more. 

President Biden will sign the bill today, Tuesday, August 16. I'll be posting links and additional information on the D.R.A. on gloriamoraga.com. 

Today, Friday, August 12, we saw what the FBI took from the Former Guy's Golf Club/House. 

Well, we didn't exactly find out. But we know that some of the "Stuff" taken are "Classified Documents."

After Trump's Congressional Enablers accused the Justice Department of "Planting" the documents, they changed the narrative today because Trump insists he "Declassified" the sensitive documents. 

Yes, he is innocent until proven guilty! But the papers don't belong to him. They belong in the National Archives! That is the law.

Domestic violence, including intimate partner violence, is a public health crisis in the U.S. Nearly one in four women and one in seven men will experience severe physical violence at the hands of their intimate partner in their lifetime.

Guns are the No. 1 weapon in domestic violence killings in the U.S. – just owning a firearm makes an abuser five times more likely to take a partner’s life.

This information is from a study by Injury Epidemiology called "The Role of Domestic Violence in Fatal Mass Shootings in the United States, 2015-2019."

And an investigation by Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting documents that domestic violence gun homicides increased 58 percent over the last decade. That story is called "When Abusers Keep Their Guns."

Despite the studies and information, the newly passed S.3623 - Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act, 2022 did NOT include the Gun Control provision to protect domestic partners from gun violence. The "Boyfriend Loophole" was removed from the legislation after pressure from the National Rifle Association.

How often have you been insulted or hurt in the last year, and what was your response? My latest way of dealing with insults is smiling and walking away. I'll admit, the insults are relatively benign. Not at all like the ones I received when I was on television or when I worked in PR for the Work Bullies. 

I've had strangers scream at me, had photographers insult me, and some viewers wrote nasty letters and e-mails about out fat I'd become.

Sometimes I handled the insults well; other times, I got down into the dirt and verbally insulted right back. 

It never entered my mind to slap someone.

I said this repeatedly all my life. I don't believe in violence. I don't believe in spanking children. My mom could destroy me with one "Look." My father was hot-tempered, but he was a lover, not a fighter; we didn't hit in our family.

I thank God I have that. I've tried to pass that on. 

I remember the great line from "Fiddler on the Roof."

A Villager says,  "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth."

And Tevye responds, "Very good. That way, the whole world will be blind and toothless."

But things are different now. It's not just social media or movies; it's life. Lose an election? Lie and incite an insurrection. Want more power? Invade Ukraine. Kill innocent people. Want to stay in power? Encourage racism, insult immigrants, harm women, destroy Democracy. 

I'm an adult. I can handle all of this. But it's different for our kids. We've gotta stop attacking each other for our kids.

All this brings me to this podcast episode; it's about our kids. We've got to talk to them. And help them and show them what scientist Albert Einstein said in a letter to his daughter, "

There is an extremely powerful force that, so far, science has not found a formal explanation to. It is a force that includes and governs all others and is even behind any phenomenon operating in the universe and has not yet been identified by us. This universal force is LOVE."

“Presidents are not kings,” Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson wrote, “They do not have subjects, bound by loyalty or blood, whose destiny they are entitled to control.” 

Those were the words that denied President Donald Trump's close advisors immunity from Congressional subpoenas. 

It is 2022, and the Senate Judiciary Committee considers President Joe Biden's historic nomination to the United States Supreme Court.

Russia attacked Ukraine just three weeks ago. The President of Ukraine has been under tremendous pressure as he asks the world for help to stop Russia from bombing his country and killing his people, including civilians, women, and children. 

On Tuesday, March 16, Volodymyr Zelensky again asked the United States to provide financial and military assistance. 

His speech to the U.S. Congress was clear and convincing. 

Here is what makes a great speech.

1. Clearly define your message
2. Speak directly to your audience
3. Connect with your audience
4. Give examples that drive home your message
5. Don’t lecture. Tell a story – if possible, use video to tell that story
